The Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV) invites you to the panel “Urban Heat & Vulnerability: Advancing Climate Justice Through Inclusive and Resilient Adaptation,” which is part of the official COP30 program.
The session will discuss how cities such as Rio de Janeiro and Helsinki can lead the climate agenda by integrating public policy, finance, and insurance to build urban resilience in the face of increasing frequency and intensity of extreme weather events.
Drawing on global examples and investigative journalism, the debate will highlight how inclusive adaptation—based on sustainable urban planning, early warning systems, resilient infrastructure, and practices such as water reuse and circular economy—can drive a just transition, ensuring that the benefits of climate policies reach the entire population.
The panel will bring together experts and decision-makers committed to climate justice and urban resilience, fostering an international dialogue on concrete solutions to address urban heat and its social inequalities.
