Thermal Stress and Hospitalizations for Cardiovascular and Respiratory Diseases in Brazil
Our study explored the relationship between thermal stress and hospitalizations for cardiovascular and respiratory diseases in Brazil (2008–2018). Four advanced thermal indices were considered to better capture heat perception. The results showed that both extreme heat and cold increase the risk of hospitalizations. These findings emphasize the importance of more comprehensive metrics to assess the health impacts of climate change.
