This guide introduces the concept and categories of ecosystem services—provisioning, regulating, supporting, and cultural—provided by mangroves. It then presents the main non-monetary (qualitative and quantitative) and monetary valuation methods that can be applied to assess these services, discussing their advantages and disadvantages. Additionally, it provides a set of key performance indicators (KPIs) and a selection of case studies on mangrove ecosystem service valuation that have applied the methods described, serving as inspiration for new applications.
