Pre-COP30 of the National Confederation of Insurers (CNseg) – The House of Insurance
The National Confederation of Insurers (CNseg) held the Pre-COP30 on October 8, in Brasília — an event that marked an important step forward in Brazil’s climate change discussions.
The initiative precedes COP30 (United Nations Climate Change Conference), which will take place in November in Belém (PA). The event featured the participation of Guilherme Bastos, researcher at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) and coordinator of the Center for Agribusiness Studies (FGV Agro).
The insurance sector has increasingly positioned itself not only as a mitigator of risks in the face of rising frequency and intensity of natural disasters, but also as a proactive agent in promoting public and private policies that foster sustainable investments. This strategic role becomes even more relevant amid growing regulatory uncertainty and heightened social expectations for corporate socio-environmental responsibility.
Key topics discussed by government authorities, parliamentarians, sector leaders, sustainability executives from the insurance market, and representatives of civil society included:
- Insurance for Nature-Based Solutions and sustainable agribusiness
- Resilient infrastructure and investment protection
- Insurance as an instrument for agricultural production protection in the context of climate transitionteção social
- Finanças sustentáveis
