Transition to a Low-Carbon Economy: Impact Assessments of Public and Private Sector Interventions Thematic Axis
The transition to a low-carbon economy requires climate action from both the public sector and private initiatives. Using econometric frontier methods and the integration of multiple data sources (including satellite data), this project will conduct impact assessments of public policies and private sector initiatives that affect greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions—the main driver of climate change.
The article will focus particularly on the Amazon region. More specifically, it applies a difference-in-differences methodology to understand how the interaction between public sector policies (such as credit policy) and private sector measures (such as market exclusion mechanisms) can contribute to reducing deforestation and GHG emissions.
