FGV will Participate in CNseg’s Pre-COP30 Event
Guilherme Bastos, Coordinator of the Agribusiness Study Center (FGV Agro), will speak at the Pre-COP30 event organized by the National Confederation of Insurance Companies (CNseg), titled Casa do Seguro, which will be held on October 8, from 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM, at the Royal Tulip Hotel in Brasília. His presentation will be part of the first panel, which will address Insurance for Nature-Based Solutions and Sustainable Agribusiness.
The panel aims to discuss how insurance can support sustainable agribusiness by promoting nature-based solutions, improving risk management, and encouraging investment in environmental conservation.
During his presentation, Guilherme Bastos will highlight the strategic role of rural insurance as a tool for risk mitigation and a catalyst for sustainable solutions in agriculture. Drawing on studies conducted by FGV Agro, he will explore how insurance can enable projects that combine low-carbon agricultural production with environmental conservation, contributing to Brazil’s goal of restoring 12 million hectares by 2030, as outlined in the country’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
Bastos will also address the challenges faced by the sector, such as the 47% drop in insured area between 2021 and 2024, and will encourage reflection on how science, technology, and innovation can drive the development of insurance products more aligned with climate goals. His presentation will seek to showcase Brazil’s potential to become a global reference in sustainable agribusiness, biodiversity valorization, and bioeconomy development, with insurance serving as a key tool to unlock investments and strengthen climate resilience.
