Innovative Generative AI for Sustainable and Inclusive Innovation: Co-creating a Framework for Organization and Supply Chain

Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen-AI), exemplified by technologies such as ChatGPT, has triggered a true revolution in business models, industries, and society. Despite its rapid adoption and the exponential growth of interest in its application, there is still a significant gap in understanding its medium- and long-term impacts, especially regarding sustainability and the social dimension, such as combating modern slavery, gender equality, and inclusion.

This transnational collaborative project, involving Brazil, the United Kingdom, and France, seeks new perspectives by investigating the potential of Gen-AI as a strategic tool to drive sustainable innovation in organizations and supply chains, with a focus also on social justice. In the Brazilian context, where sustainability, innovation, and social issues are increasingly integrated, the study proposes the development of a conceptual framework to measure the benefits generated by Gen-AI in green and inclusive initiatives, contributing to operational efficiency, competitiveness, and the choice of sustainable and socially responsible suppliers. Using mixed methods, the project will be conducted in three phases. The first will focus on a systematic literature review (SLR) to map the state of the art, identifying the most relevant variables.

In the second phase, a robust data collection instrument will be developed, applied to a panel of experts, and combined with secondary databases (Quantitative and/or Qualitative) to enrich the analysis. The final result will be the first framework dedicated to “Gen-AI for Sustainable and Inclusive Innovation,” offering practical and applicable insights for managers, policymakers, and academics. This framework will provide guidance for strategic decision-making, efficient resource allocation, process optimization, and future scenario planning, contributing to the achievement of the SDGs.
