Research Project

Protocol for the socioeconomic, cultural and environmental development of resettlement areas affected by hydroelectric projects.

Thematic axes
5 - Fostering Human and Social Development

The Research and Development project under the Brazilian Electricity Regulatory Agency (Aneel) and funded by CTG Brasil aimed to develop a protocol for defining and monitoring the actions necessary for the socioeconomic, cultural, and environmental development of resettlement projects resulting from hydroelectric developments.

The protocol established a methodology with parameters for the socioterritorial characterization of resettled communities, recommending socioeconomic and socioenvironmental indicators for monitoring, analysis, and decision-making. A pilot project was also carried out to apply the protocol in the resettlement process associated with the installation of the Garibaldi Hydroelectric Plant (SC).
